The newly discovered Colin J. McRae Papers contains over 2500 documents, of which approximately 1000 documents relate directly to the Civil War. This exciting collection belonged to Colin J. McRae, the Confederacy’s chief financial agent in Europe during the second half of the Civil War.

WFTF is a special program that the SC Confederate Relic Room and Military Museum created specifically to preserve email, photos, and letters from South Carolina service members that reflect their daily experiences while on duty defending our nation.

This collection contains ten letters written by Lt. James "Newt" Martin, a Newberry native who enlisted as a private in Co. E, 3rd SC Volunteer Infantry at age 29. He was elected Lieutenant on December 31, 1863, and served throughout the entire war.
