Army PFC Michael S. Adams, 20, of Spartanburg, SC, died on August 21, 2003, in Baghdad, Iraq.
He died from smoke inhalation while participating in a small-arms fire exercise on the range when a bullet ricocheted causing the building to ignite fire. Adams was assigned to 1st Battalion, 35th Armor Regiment, 1st Armored Division, Baumholder, Germany.
In 2001, Adams graduated from Dorman High School and joined the Army immediately thereafter.
